OMERS taking huge writedown
Article Abstract:
The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Board (OMERS), one of the largest pension funds in the US, indicated that it is taking more than $600 million in writedowns in 2004 after a year of mediocre performance. The pensions fund manages the retirement savings of 340,000 active and retired Ontario local government employees and has recorded a $2.6 billion increase in assets scaling up to $32.7 billion.

Pension plans face losses amid dismal markets
