Bank of Montreal offers specialized banking service to Mexican immigrantss
Article Abstract:
Bank of Montreal has announced that it will offer specialized services to Mexican immigrants working in vegetable and fruit farms in Southern Ontario. The bank said that it would allow around 1,500 Mexican workers to transfer fund directly from its branch in Leamington, Ontario, to any of Grupo Financiero Bamcomer SA's 1,200 branches in Mexico. Bank of Montreal owns a 16% stake in Bancomer.

Scotiabank chairman seeking limited regulation for sector

Bank of Nova Scotia chmn Peter Godsoe has asked Canada's federal government to restrain its regulatory thrusts concerning the planned restructuring of the country's financial services industry. Mr Godsoe said he made his appeal so that banks will have the flexibility to maintain their competitiveness and added that the government should not overregulate the industry.
