Results at I.B.M. And Sun Offer Signs of Recovery
Article Abstract:
IBM and Sun Microsystems have issued financial reports that show strong gains. IBM's news helped its stock price rise $3.71 to $94.02. IBM has remained focused on the corporate technology market since businesses provide two-thirds of the spending in information technology, as indicated by $17 billion in new contracts and an increase to $25.9 billion in fourth-quarter revenues. Sun's gains in contrast revolved around its progress in reducing its second-quarter loss to $125 million compared to the $2.28 billion loss a year ago in the same quarter. Revenues increased 13.9% from the first-quarter, the first time a first-to-second gain has occurred since 1998.
