Work gives students a leg up

A new report from Statistics Canada shows that high school students benefit in several ways from part-time employment. The report claims that part-time work allows students to gain valuable job skills as well as qualities such as self-discipline.

Firms take compassion to heart
Article Abstract:
The Canadian employees, who were in need of time to care for critically ill family member had to take sick leaves, apply for unpaid leaves or quit their jobs. The new Employment Insurance rules would provide up to six weeks of compassionate leave benefits for qualified applicants, and the Canada Labour Code would be amended to compel employers under federal jurisdiction to grant such leaves and preserve the jobs of the employees, who take leaves.
