Ottawa stifling hearings, group say
Article Abstract:
The Sierra Legal Defence Fund claimed that the federal government failed to enforce the Fisheries Act on rivers where British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority has built dams. The group said that Ottawa is undermining the environmental side agreement to NAFTA to cloak the proceedings in undue secrecy. However, the Sierra Fund's challenge has been overshadowed by disputes over the amount of information from the case that should be divulged to the public.
