Ottawa willing to change airline rule

The Canadian government is considering to change the 10% rule to give way to Onex Corp's C$1.8-billion bid to combine Canada's two major ailines, Air Canada of Montreal, Canada, and Canadian Airlines International Ltd of Calgary, Canada. The 10% rule, which was part of the Air Canada Public Participation Act that was enacted in 1998, restricts individual investors to a maximum of 10% of Air Canada.

Election call may temper Dodge's tone
Article Abstract:
Bank of Canada Governor David Dodge is expected to take care to stay out of the headlines with drastic statements about Canada's prospects with an election call expected as early as April 2004. American central bank watchers have often suspected the U.S. Federal Reserve Board of being politically motivated in its monetary policy in the period preceding and during an election.
