Parts firm will help workers offset cost of health care levy

The new health levy that reinstates Ontario Health Insurance Plan has given rise to a fight over the payment of the premium, and has created tensions in a number of workplaces throughout Ontario. Cooper Standard Automotive Canada Ltd., an auto parts company, has entered into an agreement with the United Steelworks of America to pay its employees $200 per year to offset Ontario's new health care premium.

When seeking a raise, it pays to be tactful
Article Abstract:
An employee should demonstrate his value to an enterprise and position himself in order to earn better than the average salary. In case of situations where an employer cannot afford to grant a pay increase, an employee should consider negotiating other benefits such as more flexible work hours, paid educational leave, and position oneself for pay increases in the future.
