Article Abstract:
Dow Corning gave specific proposals for a $3.2-billion settlement on the class-action action lawsuit brought by as many as 700,000 women against the firm's implant product. The women alleged that medical problems resulted from the silicone get breast implants manufactured by Dow. The plaintiffs would be entitled to benefits of as much as $300,000 in a tentative agreement that was allowed by US Bankruptcy Judge Arthur Spector. Dow Corning outlined the terms as part of a reorganization plan it has submitted since going under bankruptcy protection in 1995.
