Pension funds target takeover rules

A group comprising some of Canada's most powerful pension funds is launching a campaign to reform the country's securities laws, which would give minority shareholders a big, say in rules at protecting their rights. The Canadian Coalition for Good Governance has set up a committee to provide securities regulators with suggestions for reforming securities laws.

Industry assailed over governance
Article Abstract:
Cross-section market players attacked Canadian securities regulators for proposing measures aimed at monitoring the mutual fund industry. Investors, academics, lawyers, and members of the industry itself assailed Athe regulators for the proposed governance regime that would lower existing standards and do little to protect mutual fund investors.
