Phonettix CEO sees the future of business calls

Phonettix Intelecom Ltd runs customer support call centers in Toronto, Halifax and Canada for businesses that do not want to set up their own call centers. The company is now turning its focus on the emerging Internet shopping market. Phonettix, with revenue of C$35 million annually, is investing in innovative call center technologies to be able to support 24-hr customer inquiries through the Internet.

AlphaNet to lose entire U.S. sales group

The six-employee US sales group of Toronto-based AlphaNet Telecom Inc has resigned to join a new US private telecomunications company. The mass resignation indicated the losing confidence of its employess in AlphaNet. The company, a wholesaler of discount Internet-based overseas telecommunications services, has posted a loss of $10.5 million in the 3rd qtr 1998.
