Pilots oppose proposed airline merger
Article Abstract:
The proposed merger of Air Canada with its rival Canadian Airlines Ltd is being opposed by the Air Canada Pilots Assn. The group said that the proposal by Onex Corp and American Airlines would result in a new airline loaded with a heavy debt, elimination of around 10,000 jobs, and surrender de facto control of the Canadian domestic airline industry to American Airlines. The proposal is being pushed by partners Onex Corp and American Airlines.
