Helicopters take commuters high above gridlock
Article Abstract:
A small but increasing number of affluent suburban professionals have found a way to avoid time-wasting traffic jams by opting to use helicopters to commute to work. Most of these individuals are purchasing helicopters and learning to fly them, while some opt to hire pilots to chauffeur them to office. Georgia Tech-based Rotorcraft Technology's Center of Excellence Dir Dan Schrage believes that technology will make helicopter flying as easy as driving a car by 2010.

New ways to count multiracial people
Article Abstract:
The administration of Pres Bill Clinton has issued new multiracial guidelines for the 2000 Census. Americans will, for the first time, be allowed to check more than one race category in a procedural change that will create 63 possible race combinations. Rather than require data on all 63 race categories, the new rules are requesting state and local governments, universities and businesses that must report race data to the federal government to provide information in at least nine categories. Office of Management and Budget Dir Sally Katzen said the new guidelines are meant to ensure that every individual is counted as one, no individual is fractionalized and no person is counted twice.
