The batteries of notebook computers have a short shelf life due to lack of energy and require charging. Neah Power Systems is trying to build a highly efficient mest to improve the extraction of energy from methanol-filled fuel cells and if this works, then eight hours of usable computing time for notebooks will be delivered when it becomes commercially available in 2006.
