Privacy issue puts DoubleClick in the public eye
Article Abstract:
DoubleClick's move to match online-surfing habits by name with consumers' off-line buying behavior has put the company in the public eye. In response to a flood of media stories about privacy on the Internet, DoubleClick launched a privacy initiative and an opt-out program that allows customers to erase their names on the firm's tracking system. What adds to the frustration of DoubleClick officials is the fact they they informed the Federal Trade Commission about the company's Web-tracking plans.
