Ranger CEO challenges Petrobank

Calgary, Alb.-based Ranger Oil Ltd. has received a $945 million hostile takeover bid from Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd. Ranger, which is led by president and chief executve officer Frederick Dyment, has questioned whether Petrobank actually has the necessary funds for the acquisition.

Petrocan to sell stake in venture near Norway
Article Abstract:
Calgary, Alb.-based Petro-Canada Inc. will withdraw from joint venture offshore oil projects in Norway. Petro-Canada, which acquired the properties in a 1996 deal with Norsk Hydro ASA, will take a $96 million charge in the first quarter related to the sale.
