Rankin friend to repay gains: Duic also agrees to testify against ex-RBC executive

Former executive of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. Andrew Rankin's friend Daniel Duic has agreed to pay back $1.9-million in illicit gains and is banned from trading for life in Ontario for his role in the largest insider trading scandal in Canadian history. The Ontario Securities Commission's enforcement branch has charged Mr. Rankin with ten counts of illegal insider trading and ten counts of leaking inside information to Mr. Duic about pending mergers and acquisitions deal involving the firm's clients.

CIBC Mellon stock scam probe linked to Angels

Alnoor Jiwan, former manager of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) Mellon Global Securities Services Co.'s Vancouver office, is under RCMP investigation over his alleged involvement in a penny stock scam. The police think that the scam, in which Alnoor is alleged to have taken bribes to issue bogus stock certificates, is linked to the Hell's Angels biker gang.
