U.K. rate rise may be first sign of things to come

The Bank of England has increased its benchmark interest rate to 5.75%, prmpting industry analysts to predict that the Bank of Canada and United States Federal Reserve Board will follow suit. Industry analysts also said that the European Central Bank may raise interest rates to counter rising inflation.

Rate climbs as central banks paint a rosy picture: Bank of Canada boosts key interest rate

The central bankers of Canada and United States declared in September 2004 that the interest rates of both the countries would increase on account of improving economy. The Bank of Canada raised its benchmark overnight rate to 2.25 percent from two percent and the US central bank is expected to raise its key interest rate.
