Receiver probing Royal Oak actions
Article Abstract:
Royal Oak Mines Inc is being investigated for a number of alleged fraudulent and questionable actions involving its former CEO Margaret Witte and four other officials by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the receiver named to oversee the insolvent Kirkland, WA-based gold producer. The fraudulent transactions contained in a report filed with the Ontario Superior Court included selling shares to Royal Oak unit Arctic Precious Metals Inc at extremely high prices to repay loans and collapsing employee insurance policies. Actions have been taken in hopes of making the executives pay around $4 million the receiver believes they owe Arctic.
