Regulators to keep close eye on PepsiCo after deal
Article Abstract:
PepsiCo's proposed acquisition of Quaker Oats Inc is expected to receive close scrutiny from antitrust regulators. Under the deal, PepsiCo will offer 2.3 of its shares for each share of Quaker which is valued at $97.46 at closing on Dec 1, 2000. The deal also requires PepsiCo to assume approximately $761 million in debt. Once the deal is terminated for a better offer from a third party, PepsiCo would receive a break-up fee of $420 million.
