Ritzy Holt's targets the common people
Article Abstract:
Holt's Renfrew & Co. Ltd., a department store chain, has shifted its marketing strategy from targeting merely Canada's upscale market to a much broader and younger range of customers. As part of the strategy, Holt's Renfrew has started exhibiting musical shows at its 11 outlets from British Columbia to Quebec and has started selling its own private-label apparel and accessories, which carry mid-range prices that are comparable with items sold at other department stores. Richard Blickstead, Holt's Renfrew's senior VP of marketing and strategic planning, countered talks that the company is moving downscale, stressing the middle-aged, affluent market will remain an important factor to the company's overall strategy.
