TD faces new challenges with Canada Trust merger
Article Abstract:
Toronto-Dominion (TD) Bank is facing the challenge of folding Canada Trust's retail branches into TD, without losing customers. TD will need to keep as many of Canada Trust's customers as possible, to increase revenue and return on equity. The bank wants to integrate the two merged firms as soon possible to cut costs. This will also minimize the disruption and inconvenience to Canada Trust's customers. TD will close 275 of its combined 1,642 retail branches and cut 4,900 jobs, which is 10% of its workforce.
