Royal shakeup affects race for chairman

Royal Bank of Canada has announced a shakeup among its senior officials. The bank said that vice-chairmen Emilien Bolduc and Robert Sutherland are retiring. Royal Bank also promoted Gordon Feeney from vice-chairman to deputy chairman. Feeney will continue to oversee all personal and geographic divisions in Canada and the Caribbean, corporate affairs, the ombudsman's office and the bank's year 2000 project. Tony Fell was also named as deputy chairman but will have no new responsibilities.

CIBC board split on new chairman
Article Abstract:
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce's board of directors will choose a new chairman on Apr 1, 1999. Insiders say it is a tight race between co- presidents Holger Kluge and John Hunkin. Actually, a five-member corporate governance committee has already selected a winner but the full board of directors could still choose otherwise. The winner will replace Al Flood.
