Artistry has left an eerie edge to the surroundings on a windswept and desolate salt lake in western Australia, as at regular intervals of the Lake Ballard Saltpan fifty-one cast stainless steel figures appear as men, women and children. Many who camp overnight at the lake's edge feel that the figures are conversing among themselves.
