The Australian and France along with adjacent islands are rich in Patagonian toothfish, which are marketed around the world as 'Chilean sea bass' in an estimated $100m illegal trade by organized syndicates. The steps taken to track the illegal southern ocean fishers by satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles in a bid to protect stocks of Patagonian toothfish are discussed.
