Texas Ranger 'A-Rod' steps up to plate for RadioShack

RadioShack and Major League Baseball has entered into a multimillion- dollar sponsorship that will feature Alex 'A-Rod' Rodriguez. The deal, the first for Rodriguez since signing a $252-million contract with the Texas Rangers in Dec 2000, will result in humorous commercials starring the baseball player. RadioShack, the top consumer electronics chain in the US is presently looking for a female Hispanic personality who will co-star with Rodriguez.

Xterra discovers extra success

Nissan is selling as many as 80,000 Xterra SUVs each year due to the vehicle's appeal with Gen X consumers. Scott Fessenden, director of marketing at Nissan, says the Xterra has been significant in attracting volume and new customers to the Japanese automaker. He adds that 80% of Xterra buyers have never bought a Nissan vehicle before. Nissan also created the Xterra as a way of linking the X in the vehicle with Gen X and extreme terrain.
