Synsorb braces for key FDA meeting
Article Abstract:
Synsorb Inc's proposal to acquire cancer researcher Oncolytics Biotech Inc is the latest in its series of moves to expand its pipeline with potential pharmaceutical product. The company is currently renegotiating its planned acquisition of a one-third state in GeneSense Technology Inc of Winnipeg, Manitoba, for C$9.5 million in stock. Synsorb also signed a collaborative deal with antibiotic researcher Ocean Pharmaceuticals Inc of White Rock, British Columbia.

BioChem acquires stake in hospital-bug vaccine company
Article Abstract:
Laval, Que.-based BioChem Pharma Inc. has acquired a minority stake in Edmonton-based Cytovax Biotechnologies Inc. for about $11 million. BioChem, which wants to increase its development of vaccines, also paid $13.5 million for vaccine development programs.

Despite slumping profit, BioChem tops expectations

BioChem Pharma Inc. posted a drop in profits to C$45 million for the 2000 fourth-quarter. The company, which still posted higher-than-expected results, posted C$51.1 million in profits in the 1999 fourth-quarter.
