The risk takers. (managing Asia's 1998 economic crisis"
Article Abstract:
Some Asian companies and governments have managed the late 1990s economic crisis better than others. Taiwan's Ulead Systems, a software company, resisted the temptation to borrow money to expand in risky markets and put its resources into product development. It is expanding with low debt. Singapore's cautious fiscal policy and long-term planning protected it from economic fluctuations. Japan ignored the consequences of stock market volatility and did not properly manage debt.
