The legacy of Jean Lesage
Article Abstract:
Jean Lesage served as Quebec's premier from 1960-66, and his legacy is still being felt in Canadian politics. He was one of the first premiers to push form more provincial power. He also began the annual premiers conference and broke with the federal Liberal party, starting the devolution of power.

Article Abstract:
Canadians like Jean Chretien so much because he is often out of the country. The less Canadians see Chretien, they more they like him. The less Chretien is involved in politics, the less likely he will make political blunders.

Chretien is the only prime minister since Brian Mulroney to enter his last term holding such tight control over his party. Because he is so powerful, Liberals should restrain from seeking a successor for Chretien.
