World Heart shuffles top two executives

Ottawa, Ont.-based World Heart Corp. has announced several top management changes as it prepares to implant its artificial heart product in a patient. World Heart, which developed the Heartsaver medical device, has appointed Tofy Mussivand as its new chairman and chief scientific officer.

Transition therapeutics confident of deal with Novo on diabetes treatment

Transition Therapeutics Inc. is on the verge of a breakthrough treatment for diabetes that is close to a cure. Nova Nordisk AS of Denmark will conclude a year long evaluation to license Transition's islet neogenesis therapy (INT) designed to stimulate the body to regenerate insulin-producing islet cells in the pancreas for $51.5 million over a period of 2005 to 2007 or 2008.
