Truce split
Article Abstract:
The rivalry between UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair and chancellor, Gordon Brown overshadows the relationship between Australian Prime Minister, John Howard and treasurer, Peter Costello, who are good friends in comparison. The poisonous competition between the UK Prime Minister Blair and Gordon Brown is undisguised, specific and played out in the media to a much greater extent than is the manoeuvring between Australian Prime Minister Howard and treasurer, Costello.

Why Jeff Kennett is pushing the drugs debate
Article Abstract:
Victoria's premier Jeff Kennett supports the idea of providing safe injecting rooms for heroin-addicted youths, but Prime Minister John Howard is concerned about the negative message such a program would send to Australian youth. Kennett did not support the decriminalization of marijuana when it was proposed by his Drugs Advisory Council in 1996, but since heroin is costing his state hundreds of lives annually, he is willing to listen to new ideas.
