Startup Internet companies are facing human-resource issues, the result of being focused on surviving. The idea that high-tech startups are not vulnerable to traditional employment issues is being challenged with some Internet firms facing sexual harassment suits. To address employment issues, some employees at Internet firms suggested adopting traditional protocols and procedures.

The rise of Internet businesses among college students is causing educators and universities to confront several ethical issues regarding the phenomenon. The issues include whether professors or educational institutions be allowed to invest in Internet start-ups, whether faculty members should serve as directors of their students' ventures and whether students should be allowed to use the facilities and computers of universities in managing their businesses.

UBUBU boldly launches start-up in cyberspace

UBUBU, established in spring 1999, has managed to keep operating despite the lack of venture capital problems facing online start-ups. The company, which offers a more intuitive way for computer users to use their desktops, has managed to secured an additional $7 million in financing in Mar 2000. UBUBU, which has grown to 60 employees, has also released its first product in Apr 2000, and managed to raise its initial revenue.
