The silver screen as a carry-on item
Article Abstract:
An in-flight movie can be a thing of beauty with a personal, portable DVD player. The picture is sharp, the screen is the right shape for a movie, and the sound is rich. The smallest is Panasonic's LV-60 that costs from $600 (at Dealtime.com) to $800. It has a 5.8-inch screen. Top of the line is a Pioneer PDV-LC20 which comes with a 7" screen and has a battery that can be charged while detached. This model sells for $770 to $1,545. It also comes with an excellent owner's manual.

Videotaping minus tape, with a DVD
Article Abstract:
Panasonic has introduced its $1,500 DMR-E20 DVD player and recorder. The device, which also offers the VCR Plus TV-show program code recording option, records onto DVD-R discs. But because DVD-R discs cannot be recorded over, the device's salient feature is that it also records onto DVD-RAM discs which can be used over and over again.
