War boosts U.S. economy

Defense spending has helped raise economic growth in the U.S. to an annual rate of 2.4 per cent. Industry analysts said that the financial sector has responded positively to a strong showing for the U.S. dollar as defense spending lent 1.7 percentage points to second quarter growth.

The Canadian dollar reached to its highest through 80 (U.S.) cents on October 21 2004 ever since March, 1993. Economists and analysts expect additional rise in the currency in the year 2005.
