The economy of Canada grew faster than expected in the final quarter of 2003, where its gross domestic product expanded at a 3.8 percent annual rate in the October- December quarter. Most economists, who stuck to the consensus, observed that the Bank of Canada would cut its benchmark interest rates in the first week of March 2004.
