Zeglis: well-liked hiker climbs as AT&T's new consumer chief
Article Abstract:
AT&T Consumer Services has appointed John Zeglis as new chairman and CEO. Zeglis will be responsible for stopping the decline in AT&T's market share, building new businesses and launching high-speed Internet access for households, according to Gary Miller, Argon Consulting Group's CEO. Zeglis is said to be the favorite to replace former AT&T CEO Bob Allen, but the top corporate seat has been given to C. Michael Armstrong when Wall Street expressed skittishness over a CEO regarded as a legal eagle with little experience in company's operations.

Taco Bell finds a dog's life quite fetching
Article Abstract:
Taco Bell's eight-pound Chihuahua featured in an ad campaign created by TBWA Chiat/Day is helping boost the company's sales. The Spanish-speaking Gidget shot up to prominence behind the now-famous phrase "Yo quiero Taco Bell." ("I want some Taco Bell.") The campaign is one of the three most popular ads ever rated for Ad Track, the consumer poll of USA Today that measures ad effectiveness. Taco Bell, which will shell out around $200 million to promote the Chihuahua in 1999, will sell Chihuahuas at its stores coast to coast.
