Gramine: a vasorelaxing alkaloid acting on 5-HT2A receptors
Article Abstract:
A study is made to evaluate the vascular effects of gramine, a non-terpenoid indole alkaloid, on resistance vessels, especially the 5-hydroxytryptaminergic system. The action of gramine was compared with that of ketanserin, a popular 5-HT2A antagonist and the result suggested that gramine is a vasorelaxing agent acting mainly by antagonism at 5-HT(sub 2A) receptors.

Anti-HIV-1 cycloartanes from leaves and twigs of Gardenia thailandica
Article Abstract:
Several species of Gardenia are collected from various parts of Thailand as part of an ongoing effort to discover new anti-HIV-1 agents from natural sources such as plants. The isolation of cycloartanes and flavones from an anti-HIV-1 active chloroform fraction of Gardenia thailandica Tirveng is described.
