Molecular characterization of alpha1- and alpha2-adrenoceptors
Article Abstract:
The six alpha-adrenoceptors that were divided into alpha1-adrenoceptors and alpha2-adrenoceptors featured various subtypes with differing binding properties. Molecular clones of these alpha-adrenoceptors failed to provide results that distinctly characterized their function as that of an alpha1- or an alpha2-adrenoceptor. However, the application of tests with proper receptor-channel mechanisms could significantly improve the characterization of alpha-adrenoceptor function.

alpha2-adrenoceptors take centre stage at Nashville meeting
Article Abstract:
A symposium held on Oct. 25-27, 1995, in Nashville, TN, focused on recent advances in alpha2-adrenoceptors research. Pharmacological data from experimental systems provided evidence supporting the important role of alpha2- and other adrenoceptor subtypes in the management of a variety of cellular and molecular functions in relation to the treatment of different diseases such as bipolar depression, analgesia and glaucoma.

Life on the edg
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that some of the edg family of G-protein-coupled receptors are high-affinity sphingosine-1-phosphate or lysophosphatidic acid receptors. Data are presented on their role as a group as lysolipid phosphate receptors.
