Clinton must go beyond symbolism to prove he believes in diversity
Article Abstract:
Pres Bill Clinton had invited many Afro-American performers during the inaugural ceremonies and was the first US president to hold the prayer service at a Black church before taking his oath. These are symbolic actions but are less profound, considering the bigger picture of diversity in the country. If Clinton really wants to convince Afro-Americans that he is serious about addressing the diversity issue, he would need a more cogent strategy than merely employing symbolism. Heought to implement social policies that would bring significant change in the socio-economic condition of Blacks.

Blacks must ignore taunts, speak proper english
Article Abstract:
There are some Black Americans who believe that being able to speak English properly is a form of rejecting one's culture by 'talking white'. Many smart black children who have a genuine interest in learning and knowing the English language are finding it difficult to ignore peer pressure. They need to be reminded of that time in history when Blacks had to fight for education and when it was considered illegal for whites to teach black slaves to read.
