Defending the wall: maintaining church/state separation in America
Article Abstract:
The religious right is espousing some dangerous rhetoric when it claims that the Constitution does not call for a separation of church and state and that God wants Christians to take back America. Unfortunately, the Republican Party did not learn from its mistakes in 1992, when it sold out to the religious right at the expense of the typical American's vote. A study of constitutional history and the writings of those who drafted the Constitution shows that they did indeed want the church and state to remain separate, despite the propaganda being spouted by today's so-called Christian leaders.

The health care state in global perspective
Article Abstract:
A global analysis of the health care state is a way of building upon Michael Moran's description of the overlooked capitalist/industrialist and pluralist/distributional functions of the modern health care welfare state. The global perspective suggests that health care states have to choose between preserving welfare policies and managing economic growth.
