Dismantling affirmative action: the broken promise to black America
Article Abstract:
The outcome of affirmative action is generally misunderstood and data reveals that blacks get no unfair advantage in their career advancement. Sometimes, affirmative action fetched jobs for blacks but they could not improve upon their menial status due to discriminative promotional awards. According to data collected by NAACP in 1993, 11% of total work force is comprised of Afro-Americans of which only 4% were lawyers and judges, dentists, doctors, engineers and corporate managers. A few black conservatives think of affirmative action as a social stigma.

DuBois and Black economic development
Article Abstract:
Dr. W.E.B. DuBois believed that equality for blacks in American society was possible only if blacks gained control over their economic and political life. He objected to Washington's view that blacks should be assimilated into the white industry. For DuBois, Washington's plans are outdated with respect to industrial development during that era. DuBois finally believed that the answer to economic development was socialism.
