Global communications: opportunities for trade and aid
Article Abstract:
Telecommunication-related aid policies can better serve the objectives of economic growth because communication and information technologies play vital roles in the socio-economic development of any country. A shift towards linking foreign aid with national trade objectives will benefit both the US and recipient countries. Private investments through non-governmental channels are becoming a common international phenomenon in promoting development, as they are more advantageous than traditional foreign aid policies. The Trade for Aid Bill is discussed.

The media's impact on international affairs, then and now
Article Abstract:
Satellite television and cyberspace are significantly affecting the common understanding of national and international affairs in their own respective ways. Cyberspace offers a decentralization of information by allowing one and all to put forth their views. Policy makers face a number of problems when national and international affairs are presented without highlighting the proper contexts. Governments face the threat of becoming less important as interest groups and non-governmental organizations try to win over an audience.
