Green parties in Europe - Evidence from sub-national elections
Article Abstract:
European green parties can perform in a better way in sub-national elections than at the national level, as greens can mobilise mass support in the sub-national elections. Voting pattern in sub-national elections often tend to point to local interests, and green parties have largely been successful in banking upon local environmental concern to get grassroot support. The study supports the 'less-at-stake' hypothesis.
