Hatreds, human rights, and the news: what we ignore
Article Abstract:
There has been a marked increase in ethnic, religious and political based conflicts worldwide following the end of the Cold War. International policymakers were unable to predict the global implications and magnitude of these conflicts which can be found in many countries all over the globe. The demise of ideological based conflicts in favor of ethno-cultural ones presents an opportunity for the US to involve itself in creating an atmosphere of global peace.

Religion and global affairs: religion and U.S. foreign policy
Article Abstract:
The growing influence of religion on global affairs creates new challenges for the US. Among these is the need to deal with religious activism and civil conflicts. In response, US foreign policy should be based on four main principles, namely, a focus on religion freedom violations, understanding of the complexity of problems, adherence to a human rights approach and seeking the cooperation of religious organizations in conflict resolution.
