A wasted opportunity? Civil society and waste management in Ireland
Article Abstract:
Government policies at managing household waste in Ireland notwithstanding, the country's civil society remains on the periphery of waste policy development and implementation. Reasons for this situation are sought that revealed that though they employed different methods, the conditions that served to rein in their operations as well as the development of future initiates were the same.

Environmental justice in Australia: When the RATS became IRATE
Article Abstract:
Environmental justice is a concept used in the US to describe and analyze environmental politics, and has application outside the country of its origin. In Australia, the case study of a dispute between residents, industry and government in the town of Port Kembla provides an example of how environmental justice could be given specific meaning in a local context.
