Moral free riding
Article Abstract:
The problem of free riding is of interest in game theory, practical economics, and moral philosophy. The free rider consumes public goods without paying for them. Fare-evasion is a paradigm of free-riding's unfairness from the perspective of moral philosophy. A principle of fairness suggests that anyone receiving benefits from a program, whether voluntary or not, should meet the requirements imposed as long as a net benefit is received, obligatory requirements would not be detrimental to practically everyone, and the beneficiary has not raised a legitimate moral objection.

The arc of the moral universe
Article Abstract:
The theory that the injustice of slavery led to its abolition is discussed. It is argued that the fundamental structure of slavery as a system of power contradicts basic slave interests. It is also shown that this conflict between slavery and slave interests contributed to the limited viability of slavery and that the characterization of slavery as unjust provides an explanation of its demise.
