Organizational commitment: antecedents and outcomes in public organizations
Article Abstract:
Commitment has three conceptually distinct dimensions, namely, experiences at work, impact of organizational arrangements and characteristics of the job. It is not directly affected by individual characteristics, but is boosted or diminished owing to organizational policies and practices. A unified model of organizational commitment in the public sector consisting of commitment, its antecedents and its outcomes was tested.

Organizational commitment: does sector matter?
Article Abstract:
Differences between industries cutting across presumed sectoral boundaries are a better predictor of organizational commitment than the sectoral distinction between public and private employees. Distinction of type of industry divides the sample into more homogenous groups and is thus more precise. Results affirm calls for more specified models in examining the distinctions between public and private.
