Peace operations: a Department of Defense perspective
Article Abstract:
The Clinton administration's policy toward peace operations adopts a selective approach that ensures that such operations promote national security interests and includes measures to enhance the effectiveness of these operations. Internal and regional conflicts often impinge on US national security and affect its strategic interests, and calls for effective peace operations. The Department of Defense has thus initiated steps to enhance the training, equipment, education, communication facilities and operational capabilities of multilateral peacekeeping forces to make peacekeeping more effective.

NAFTA: a Mexican perspective
Article Abstract:
The US and Mexico's efforts to establish commercial ties with each other has resulted in making trade between them relatively free. The Mexican government has opposed US protectionism from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to get total support for the NAFTA in the country. Those supporting it say that it will give Mexico access to the US market and those opposing it feel that Mexican products should be protected from foreign competition.

Article Abstract:
The North American Free Trade Agreement will establish a market of 360 million consumers and $ 6 trillion total output, and make North American producers compete among themselves and with producers from other countries. Most US companies will benefit from the agreement as they will take advantage of the economic trends in Mexico and Canada.
