Article Abstract:
Pondoks or ponoh, Islamic schools in Thailand where Koran and Shariat law are taught, are believed to be affiliated to Muslim jihad groups as indicated by the daring raid on army weapons depot and attacks on government employees, policemen, soldiers and Buddhist monks. Locals are of the opinion that on 25 October 2004, when more than 78 persons died due to suffocation while being ferried in army trucks.
