Proposals for voting reform within the International Monetary Fund
Article Abstract:
Voting privileges in the International Monetary Fund need to be redistributed. Under the current system the 135 members that are classified as developing countries control only 32% of the vote, while the United States and Japan hold 22% between themselves. Reforms should be made within the current framework of a general quota review if they are to be politically feasible. The goals of reform should include the expansion of voting power, a consideration of population size in determining voting privileges and a non-governmental observer to deter the exchange of votes for purely political purposes.

Official export credits and development: international harmonisation as a challenge to NGO advocacy
Article Abstract:
Non-governmental organizations are expected to play a key role towards promotion of international harmonization in relation to the granting of export credits. Private development, environmental and consumer associations have the ability to serve as powerful mediums in bringing the issue of harmonization in international forum for speedy solution of inconsistency involving financing of development projects. Harmonization in export credits is also seen to result in the creation of certain minimum standards that will prevent destructive competition among countries.
