Quandaries of the peace process
Article Abstract:
Peace in the Middle East is linked to two dilemmas of the democratization process. Democratization from above has resulted in peaceful transitions to democracy in the region but political pacts to protect democratic bodies could result in exclusivist politics. Also, the fear that democracy will lead to theocracy remains. Some have taken steps towards the democratic inclusion of Islamic groups, others have eliminated the militants through force. The 1996 Palestinian elections have improved chances for resolving the dilemma. Controlled democratization with economic reforms is key to the peace.

The democratic path to peace
Article Abstract:
Democratic peace has always been a much-debatable issue since it focuses on international politics. There has been no substantial evidence on the idea that democratic governments will have peaceful relationships with one another. Rather, a much comprehendible proposition is that no international war will take place unless one of the disputing states was not democratic. Democracy creates a positive revolutionary impact on world politics and the democratization of more countries can reduce the probability of war and interstate disputes.
